Wrap Cymru Announce  Details Regarding Welsh Government Circular Economy Fund

Wrap Cymru has announced details of how businesses can apply for the Welsh Government £6.5m circular economy grant fund.

Announced in 2017, The Circular Economy Capital Investment Fund will help companies make the transformation towards a ‘Circular Economy’ and will help Wales towards the milestones of 70% recycling by 2025 and 100% recycling by 2050, as set out in the Welsh Government’s waste strategy Towards Zero Waste.

Aims of the Grant

In its announcement, Wrap Cymru states that the overall aims and objectives of the fund are to:

  • Ensure that a greater proportion of plastic waste produced in Wales is recycled by Welsh manufacturing companies; i.e. they increase the level of recycled content in the plastic products, components and packaging manufactured in Wales.
  • Ensure that products, components and packaging placed on the market incorporate as high a percentage of recycled materials as possible.
  • Allow for other innovative circular economy projects to apply for assistance.
